# Bomb Threats Disrupt Flights Across Europe

More than a dozen flights faced threats, diversions or military escorts; all reported passengers were safe and searches found no explosives.

More than a dozen passenger flights across Europe were disrupted by bomb threats Thursday, prompting diversions, emergency landings, military escorts and security searches in several countries.

The affected routes included flights operated by Aer Lingus, Finnair, Ryanair, Wizz Air and LOT Polish Airlines. All of the aircraft landed safely, and authorities had reported no explosives or suspicious materials in the searches completed by Thursday morning.

An Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Rome carrying 151 passengers and six crew members was diverted to the Evreux military air base in France. A Finnair flight from Helsinki to Rome was escorted by Italian military aircraft before landing at its scheduled destination.

Three Ryanair flights headed for Sofia from Copenhagen, Madrid and London Stansted also received threats. Two landed in Sofia, while the London flight diverted to Plovdiv. Bulgarian authorities said inspections found no explosives.

Police also activated security measures for four Prague-bound aircraft. Searches there found nothing suspicious, according to the Associated Press.

The wave followed similar threats earlier in the week. Reuters reported that at least seven flights and a cruise ship were targeted Tuesday, also without explosives being found.

Authorities have not established whether the incidents are connected or identified who made the threats. European officials said investigations were continuing, and an aviation-security information-sharing mechanism was activated.

The disruptions affected flights across multiple countries, but officials said airport operations resumed after inspections at several locations. Travelers should check directly with their airline for route-specific status.
