Update — November 8, 2026, 6:01 a.m. Central:

The National Weather Service added coastal Duval and south-central Duval forecast zones in Florida to the dense-fog advisory at 6:45 a.m. EST Sunday. Visibility of a quarter-mile or less is forecast through 9 a.m. EST. The earlier northeast Florida and southeast Georgia coverage below continues.

A separate Tallahassee-office advisory issued at 6:45 a.m. covers Ben Hill, Berrien, Cook, Irwin, Lanier, Lowndes, Tift and Turner counties in Georgia until 9 a.m. EST, also forecasting visibility of a quarter-mile or less.

A marine advisory issued at 6:27 a.m. EST covers coastal waters from Altamaha Sound, Georgia, to Fernandina Beach, Florida, and onward to St. Augustine, out to 20 nautical miles. It forecasts visibility of a quarter nautical mile or less until 9 a.m. EST, making navigation difficult. The marine measurement uses nautical miles, while the land advisories use ordinary miles.

Earlier Reporting:

The National Weather Service expanded a dense-fog advisory early Sunday, November 8, to cover more of northeast Florida and southeast Georgia, warning that low visibility could make morning driving hazardous.

The Jacksonville office’s 5:11 a.m. Eastern Standard Time bulletin forecasts visibility of a quarter-mile or less in the newly added areas. The advisory continues until 9 a.m. EST Sunday.

The added Florida coverage includes Baker County, inland and coastal Nassau County, the Trout River forecast zone and western Duval County. In Georgia, the expansion covers Coffee, Jeff Davis, Atkinson, Clinch, northern and southern Ware, and western Charlton forecast zones.

A companion bulletin keeps the same advisory in place for Appling, Bacon, Brantley, Pierce and Wayne counties in Georgia, along with inland and coastal Camden and Glynn and northeastern Charlton forecast zones. That earlier coverage had been announced at 1:17 a.m. EST.

The 5:11 a.m. issuance therefore adds locations to an existing morning advisory rather than starting a separate fog event in each county. Both bulletins carry the same 9 a.m. end time.

The weather service advises drivers who encounter fog to slow down, use headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead. The forecast describes the potential for reduced visibility across the listed areas; it does not establish that every road or community has the same conditions at the same moment.
