Launch Catch-Up — Gift Announced October 26, 2026

The Quadracci family has committed $10 million to the Milwaukee Art Museum to create an endowment for maintaining the Quadracci Pavilion, the museum announced October 26.

The commitment involves the family and the Windhover and Winderful Foundations. It comes as the lakefront pavilion marks 25 years since opening in 2001.

Designed by Santiago Calatrava, the pavilion was his first building in the United States. Its moving Burke Brise Soleil wings became a defining feature of the museum’s architecture.

The new Quadracci Pavilion Preservation Endowment Fund will generate annual income for long-term care of the building’s architectural features, according to the museum.

The family initially supported the pavilion with a $10 million lead challenge grant. Including the latest commitment, its support for the museum totals $30 million over three decades, the announcement says.

This is a preservation endowment commitment, rather than a newly announced construction project. The release does not specify an immediate repair timetable or say that the full gift has already been spent.
