President Donald Trump promoted plans for CapeWeek during remarks at Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Friday evening, November 6, backing a new American aerospace and technology gathering scheduled to begin in 2028.

Trump said the former space shuttle landing strip would provide a venue for American aerospace companies to introduce products and projects. He predicted the event would become the world’s largest air show. That is an ambition for the future gathering, rather than an established attendance ranking.

Organizers had announced the project earlier Friday. Their release schedules the first CapeWeek for March 27 through April 2, 2028, and describes a public-private partnership involving NASA, Florida, Space Florida and CapeWeek.

The proposed format combines a leadership forum, an industry exhibition and public days with flight demonstrations and technology displays. Organizers say the event is designed to grow to accommodate more than 500,000 visitors annually; that figure is a planning goal, not a count of tickets sold or confirmed attendance.

The industry program is intended to connect companies with potential customers, investors and suppliers across aerospace, defense, energy, robotics and advanced transportation. Public activities would give families and students opportunities to see demonstrations and meet engineers.

Friday’s presidential remarks took place as Kennedy prepared for its separate MAX POWER aerospace weekend on November 7 and 8. CapeWeek’s planned 2028 debut is a distinct event and remains more than a year away.

The proposal would add a major U.S. venue to an international aviation exhibition calendar that already includes Paris, Farnborough in England and Dubai.
