Launch Catch-Up — Exhibition Opens October 24, 2026

The Utah Museum of Fine Arts has opened its salt 18 exhibition featuring Mexico City artist Amor Muñoz, with the museum listing an October 24 start and a run through June 6, 2027.

The exhibition centers on KaleidescopElote, an installation using enlarged resin corn kernels to connect agriculture, cultural memory and celestial observation.

The museum describes the work as an interactive sculpture with an augmented-reality sound experience that responds to visitors’ movement. It brings contemporary technology into conversation with longstanding systems of knowledge.

Muñoz works across textiles, sculpture, sound, installation and performance. Her practice examines relationships among engineering, craft, labor and biology, according to the museum.

A companion publication includes an essay by Emily Lawhead, the museum’s curator of modern and contemporary art.

The annual salt series began in 2010 and presents contemporary artists from regional, national and international backgrounds. This report summarizes the museum’s exhibition information; it does not claim an on-site visit or offer a critical review of the installation.
