Advanced Micro Devices shares rose 7.3% in premarket trading Wednesday, November 4, after the chipmaker presented a 2027 growth outlook that exceeded Wall Street expectations and highlighted expanding demand for artificial-intelligence infrastructure.
AMD expects overall revenue to grow more than 80% in 2027, Reuters reported, compared with an approximately 77% estimate compiled by LSEG. If the premarket gain holds, the move would add roughly $58 billion to the company’s market value. Premarket prices can change substantially before regular trading begins.
The outlook builds on a record third quarter. AMD reported revenue of $13.38 billion, up 45% from a year earlier, with diluted earnings of $1.46 per share under generally accepted accounting principles. Data-center revenue climbed 97% to approximately $8.5 billion as sales of EPYC server processors and Instinct AI accelerators increased.
For the fourth quarter, AMD projected revenue of about $17 billion, plus or minus 3%. The midpoint would represent annual growth of approximately 66%. The company also expects a non-GAAP gross margin of about 55%, a measure that excludes specified costs.
Chief Executive Lisa Su said demand was strengthening across server processors and data-center AI products. AMD is scaling production of its Helios rack systems, MI450-series accelerators and sixth-generation EPYC processors as it competes for infrastructure spending now concentrated around Nvidia products.
Reuters reported that TD Cowen analysts viewed AMD’s product plans and growing software ecosystem as support for further market-share gains. Morgan Stanley analysts were more cautious about assuming current server-processor growth would continue indefinitely because the industry faces supply constraints.
AMD’s client and gaming revenue declined 8% from a year earlier to $3.7 billion, including a 40% drop in gaming revenue. That contrast leaves the company increasingly dependent on continued data-center expansion.
Wednesday’s share move reflects investors’ response to the latest outlook, not a guarantee that AMD will achieve its projected growth. Future results will depend on product execution, manufacturing capacity, customer spending and competition across the AI-chip market.
