Bristol Myers Squibb reported 56-week results Friday from a small trial of Camzyos in adolescents with symptomatic obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a heart condition that can obstruct blood flow.
The company presented the SCOUT-HCM findings at a Chicago medical meeting November 6. The trial enrolled 44 participants ages 12 to 17; 43 completed the first 28 weeks and entered the next treatment period.
Participants initially assigned placebo switched to Camzyos after week 28. Consequently, the later follow-up does not provide a continuing placebo comparison.
The company reported sustained reductions in a measure of obstruction, including a mean 48.1-millimeter-of-mercury reduction from baseline among participants receiving Camzyos for 56 weeks. It reported no new safety signals and no participant whose left-ventricular ejection fraction fell below 50% during follow-up.
Those findings are company-reported results from a small study. Camzyos carries a boxed warning for heart-failure risk and requires cardiac monitoring through a restricted U.S. access program.
