WHI Solutions, an eBay company, announced October 30 that it launched Nexus, an artificial-intelligence suite for its Nexpart automotive-parts ordering platform. Its first feature handles telephone orders.
According to WHI, customers can speak with an AI agent to ask questions and place orders, including outside normal business hours. The service uses distributors’ existing call arrangements and sends orders through Nexpart.
The company said initial language support includes English and Spanish, with additional languages under development. It described Nexus as included with Nexpart, subject to a setup fee, without specifying that fee in the announcement.
Parts Authority was the first distributor selected to deploy Nexus, according to a statement from the distributor included in WHI’s release. Factory Motor Parts was identified as another major distributor preparing to offer it.
WHI said the service draws on its parts-catalog data and is intended to handle routine calls while staff deal with complex requests and exceptions. Those are the supplier’s descriptions of the product; the announcement provided no independent error-rate or performance testing.
