Deep Purple has postponed two German concerts scheduled for October 31 and November 1, with the band’s official tour calendar now marking both dates as postponed.
The affected performances are Saturday’s show at QI Arena in Leipzig and Sunday’s show at the Sporthalle in Hamburg.
Press Association reported October 31 that the band attributed the postponements to a medical emergency involving singer Ian Gillan. In the band’s public statement reproduced by PA, the group said Gillan was hospitalized and apologized to fans. The statement did not specify a diagnosis.
According to that statement, the group is working to arrange replacement dates and tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled shows. The notices checked for this report did not provide new performance dates.
The official calendar continues to list subsequent German stops, including Dortmund on November 3 and Berlin on November 4. Those listings describe the current published itinerary; they do not establish Gillan’s recovery timetable.
The announcement concerns the two specified performances. No broader tour cancellation was announced in the checked statement.
