Godzilla Minus Zero led the North American box office over the weekend ending November 8, with an estimated $31.6 million from U.S. and Canadian theaters.

The Japanese sequel finished ahead of The Cat in the Hat, whose opening weekend was estimated at $20.5 million. The figures are Sunday estimates and remain subject to revision when final totals are released.

Takashi Yamazaki directed Godzilla Minus Zero, the follow-up to 2023’s Godzilla Minus One. Toho produced the film, with GKIDS handling its North American distribution.

The box-office tracking table lists Godzilla Minus Zero in 3,254 theaters, compared with 4,003 for The Cat in the Hat. Despite playing in fewer locations, the Godzilla sequel earned the larger estimated opening total.

Drummer Boy followed with an estimated $9.3 million for the weekend. The documentary You Can See Everything added approximately $8.9 million, bringing its North American cumulative gross to about $79.8 million.

The ranking describes ticket revenue rather than profit. Theater counts and cumulative receipts provide context for the weekend estimates, while production costs and distribution arrangements determine how those receipts translate into financial results for each release.

Final domestic figures are expected Monday. This report uses the estimates available Sunday, November 8.
