The Federal Election Commission said October 28 that its electronic filing system was available again after a fix was implemented.
The agency posted the restoration notice at 4:50 p.m. Eastern time Wednesday. It classified the incident as “Monitoring,” indicating that staff were checking the results of the repair rather than marking the incident fully resolved.
The incident record identifies three affected filing services: online web forms, the electronic filing submission system and electronic filing vendor tools. The FEC's homepage also said electronic filing was available and that its Electronic Filing Office and Reports Analysis Division would assist filers until 8 p.m.
The status history records an initial investigation notice at 10:15 p.m. Eastern on October 26. An October 27 update said the problem had been identified and a fix was being implemented.
The public incident notice addresses availability and repair status. It does not identify a cause for the outage.
