Update — October 29, 2026, 3:17 p.m. EDT

NASA confirmed that Anil Menon and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk completed their spacewalk at 3:08 p.m. EDT on October 29 after seven hours and 11 minutes outside the International Space Station.

They installed and deployed a roll-out solar array on the station’s 2A electrical power channel. NASA identified it as the seventh such array installed on the station, adding power for operations including a safe, controlled deorbit.

The astronauts also completed preparatory tasks for a planned November 5 spacewalk to install the eighth and final array on the 3B channel.

Earlier Context

Update — October 28, 2026

NASA said October 28 that mission managers had cleared the October 29 spacewalk to install a roll-out solar array on the International Space Station's port-side truss.

Anil Menon and Joshua Kutryk completed procedure reviews and inspected spacesuit life-support and communications equipment Wednesday. NASA said they also held final conferences with ground specialists and robotics engineers. Mission controllers plan to activate the array remotely after installation. The spacewalk remains scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. EDT Thursday; the installation has not yet occurred.

Earlier Context — October 26, 2026 Launch Catch-Up

Astronauts aboard the International Space Station practiced robotic-arm operations October 26 ahead of a planned spacewalk to expand the station's power system, NASA reported.

NASA astronaut Anil Menon and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk are scheduled to leave the Quest airlock at 8 a.m. Eastern on Thursday, October 29. The planned installation of a roll-out solar array is expected to take six hours and 45 minutes.

Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney will help the spacewalkers with their suits and support Canadarm2 operations. Menon is due to ride the robotic arm while carrying the array to its installation location; Kutryk will travel along the station's truss.

The crew also checked emergency jetpacks and spacesuit cooling systems. NASA plans live coverage beginning at 6:30 a.m. Eastern.

The October 26 update describes preparations and the planned work. The installation has not yet occurred.
