Launch Catch-Up — Fellows Announced October 21, 2026

The Latino Film Institute selected 10 emerging directors for its 2027 Inclusion Fellowship, announcing the program’s seventh cohort October 21.

Each filmmaker receives a $50,000 production grant to make a live-action narrative short, alongside mentorship and industry-development opportunities. Netflix supports the initiative.

The selected directors are Adalberto Angulo, Alexander Ibarra, Berman Fenelus, Camila de Ilhéus, Crystal Ferreiro, Jasmin Prophete, Kevin Rios, María Sofía Hernández, Mariales Diaz and Miguel Ortiz.

Their proposed films span genres including horror, science fiction, comedy, romance and coming-of-age drama. The fellowship supports production rather than recognizing films that are already complete.

The institute plans to screen the finished work at the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival. Fellows will also participate in LALIFF Connect, a professional forum bringing filmmakers together with people working in production, distribution, acquisitions and representation.

The announcement identifies the cohort and planned support; it does not specify individual screening dates for the completed projects.
