Manchester United scored twice in second-half stoppage time to draw 4–4 with Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday, November 8, completing their second recovery from a two-goal deficit in the same match.
Joshua Zirkzee cut Villa’s advantage to 4–3 in the second minute of added time. Patrick Dorgu then headed the equalizer in the sixth, turning a late surge into a point for the home side.
Villa had led 2–0 inside the opening four minutes through Alysson and Nicolas Jackson. Bruno Fernandes brought United back into the contest with a penalty, and Youri Tielemans equalized before halftime.
The visitors restored their advantage soon after the interval. John McGinn converted a penalty before Leon Goretzka made it 4–2, leaving United needing another two-goal response.
That lead survived until stoppage time, when Zirkzee’s finish gave the hosts a route back. Dorgu’s header completed the comeback and denied Villa an away victory.
The draw came in Unai Emery’s 200th Premier League match as a manager. His team had twice established a substantial lead but finished with one point rather than three.
United remained 18th in the league going into the international break. The late recovery avoided a defeat but did not lift the club out of the relegation places.
