Launch Catch-Up — Production Announced October 21, 2026
Netflix has begun production on The Whisper of Fire, a four-part limited series adapted from Javier Castillo’s novel, the company announced October 21.
The Spanish thriller stars Inma Cuesta, Alejandro García, Iván Pellicer, Zoe Bonafonte and Alicia Armenteros. Laura Alvea and José Ortuño direct, with Jesús Mesas Silva and Javier Andrés Roig writing the screenplay.
Netflix said filming would take place in Tenerife and Madrid. Atípica Producciones is producing, with Alberto Félez and Cristina Sutherland serving as executive producers.
The fictional story follows investigations into the death of a young astrophysicist in Teide National Park. Her twin brother and a Civil Guard sergeant pursue answers through separate inquiries.
The project is Netflix’s fourth adaptation of a Castillo novel, following The Snow Girl, The Soul Game and The Crystal Cuckoo. The October announcement did not specify a release date, so the production start should not be read as an imminent streaming premiere.
