Launch Catch-Up — Gift Announced October 23, 2026
The Philadelphia Museum of Art announced a $20 million gift from Lois G. and Julian A. Brodsky to create a learning and engagement center in its north wing.
The October 23 announcement outlines a family learning center, art studios, visitor orientation space and a multipurpose community hub. The museum said the project is intended to expand capacity for school groups and hands-on programs.
Philadelphia architecture firm MGA Partners is working on the schematic design. The museum expects a design by summer 2027 and anticipates completing construction within a few years. Those are projected milestones; the center has not been announced as open.
The institution currently welcomes about 36,000 students annually, according to its release. It offers free guided visits and bus transportation to specified school and youth groups, and free admission to visitors aged 18 and younger.
The new center will carry the Brodskys' names. Both have long associations with the museum, including board service, volunteer work and earlier support for curatorial and gallery projects.
