Purina announced on October 30 that its documentary series “A Different Breed” had won three Daytime Emmy Awards, recognizing the program and its editing and directing.

In its announcement, the company identified the awards as Outstanding Lifestyle Program, Outstanding Editing for a Daytime Non-Studio Program and Outstanding Directing for a Daytime Non-Studio Non-Fiction Series.

The nine-episode series was produced by Purina Films with InkBlot Narratives. It follows 18 teams competing in the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge, showing the handlers’ preparation and their relationships with the dogs alongside the competitions.

Purina said the series is distributed exclusively on Prime Video in the United States. The competition provides the setting for events including agility, flying-disc routines, weave-pole racing and diving-dog contests.

The company also said a second season is in post-production. It did not announce a release date or confirm a distribution platform for that season, saying more information would be provided later.

This report describes Purina’s October 30 announcement. The award categories, production details and second-season status are attributed to the company’s release.

Earlier recognition is separate from the newly announced Daytime Emmy results. On October 24, the standalone special “A Different Breed: Showdown at the Farms” won a Mid-America Emmy for Editor — Short Form or Long Form Content, according to Purina. That special is available on YouTube, while the nine-episode series is on Prime Video.
