Update — November 7, 2026, 2:04 p.m. Central:

The National Weather Service added a freeze warning for seven Virginia forecast areas from midnight to 9 a.m. Eastern Standard Time Sunday, November 8.

The Baltimore/Washington office issued the bulletin at 2:29 p.m. EST Saturday, November 7. It covers Albemarle, Greene, Nelson, Orange, Culpeper and Madison counties and southern Fauquier County, forecasting temperatures between 28 and 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

Forecasters expect the lowest temperatures in sheltered valleys below 500 feet in elevation. The warning identifies potential damage to crops, sensitive plants and unprotected outdoor plumbing, rather than confirmed damage already sustained.

The Virginia notice is separate from the Wilmington and Paducah warnings described below. Each has its own coverage and end time; none applies to an entire state. The weather service advises protecting tender plants and exposed water pipes.

Update — November 7, 2026, 12:59 p.m. Central:

A new National Weather Service warning covers portions of central, south-central and southwest Ohio, southeast Indiana, and northeast and northern Kentucky from midnight to 10 a.m. Eastern Standard Time Sunday, November 8.

The Wilmington, Ohio, office issued its bulletin at 1:55 p.m. EST Saturday. It forecasts temperatures in the upper 20s to lower 30s Fahrenheit and warns that freezing conditions could harm crops and sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

The new notice includes counties around Cincinnati, Ohio, and northern Kentucky, as well as other specified forecast areas. It expands this report’s geographic coverage beyond the separate Paducah bulletin below; neither warning applies statewide.

The weather service advises protecting tender plants. The Wilmington notice ends an hour later than the Paducah warning when both are expressed in Eastern time.

Earlier Reporting — November 7 Morning Warning:

The National Weather Service issued a freeze warning Saturday for southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky and southeast Missouri, forecasting overnight temperatures as low as 31 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Paducah, Kentucky, office issued the November 7 notice at 10:30 a.m. Central Standard Time. Its warning period begins at 11 p.m. CST Saturday and ends at 8 a.m. CST Sunday, November 8. In the affected areas using Eastern time, the equivalent period is midnight to 9 a.m. EST Sunday.

The bulletin covers the weather office’s four-state area. It does not apply to every part of the four states, and the forecast minimum does not mean every location in the warning area will reach the same temperature.

Forecasters say frost and freezing conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. The notice also warns of possible damage to unprotected outdoor plumbing.

The agency urges people to take steps to protect tender plants from the cold. Saturday’s announcement concerns conditions expected overnight; it is not a report that crops or pipes across the region have already been damaged.
