Update — November 8, 2026:
The Peace River at State Road 70 in Arcadia, Florida, measured 15.3 feet at 8:30 a.m. EST Sunday, November 8, down from the 16.0-foot Saturday reading reported below. The National Weather Service’s 8:51 a.m. Sunday bulletin says moderate flooding is occurring and forecast, and the flood warning remains in effect until further notice.
The river’s maximum stage during the preceding 24 hours was 16.0 feet. Flood stage is 11.0 feet. The latest forecast calls for the river to fall to 11.1 feet Friday morning, November 13, still slightly above that threshold.
The newer reading and forecast supersede the earlier gauge figures and outlook retained below. They do not establish that flooding or road hazards have ended. The agency’s stage-based impact descriptions are not independently verified counts of currently flooded homes.
Earlier Reporting:
A flood warning continued Saturday, November 7, for the Peace River at State Road 70 in Arcadia, Florida, as the National Weather Service reported moderate flooding in DeSoto County.
The river measured 16.0 feet at 8:30 a.m. Eastern, according to the agency’s 9:11 a.m. bulletin. Its highest stage during the preceding 24 hours was 16.4 feet. The reading remained above the gauge’s 11.0-foot flood stage and 10.0-foot bankfull level.
The weather service’s impact guidance says a 16.0-foot stage can flood up to 60 homes at River Acres and affect the Woman’s Club and American Legion. That is the agency’s stage-based impact description, rather than an independently confirmed count of flooded homes from this report.
The forecast calls for the river to fall to 12.4 feet by Thursday morning, November 12. That projected level would still be above flood stage. A forecast decline therefore does not mean the flooding has ended or that affected roads are safe to use.
The warning remains in effect until further notice. The weather service said its next statement was expected at 9:15 p.m. Eastern Saturday.
Officials urged motorists to avoid flooded roads, not drive around barricades and not attempt to pass through floodwater. The warning concerns the Peace River at the Arcadia gauge; it should not be confused with separate notices for nearby Horse Creek.
